The Molech paradigm

molechGod commanded the Israelites that they were not to sacrifice any of their children to Molech: “And thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire to Molech, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the LORD. …” Sacrificing to the Phoenician god Molech (king) was a popular form of idolatry; it consisted of burning children alive. The idol was heated and the children were placed in its hands. Think of Molech as the ancient pagans’ answer to partial-birth abortion.
