Posnerâs article published in the Harvard Law Review.2 Posnerâs article was actually an amalgamation of lectures he gave as the speaker of the annual Oliver Wendell Holmes Lecture series celebrating the 100th anniversary of Holmesâs famous essay, âThe Path of Law.â In these lectures, Posner addresses his aversion to what he calls academic moralism,â moral philosophy, legal theory, moral theory and âmoral entrepreneurs,â because moral theory lacks the âintellectual cogency or the emotional power to change peopleâs beliefs or behavior.â
