Prologue—Finding Little Epiphanies on a Summer Morning Walk in my Huntcliff Neighborhood (circa July 17, 2026)
*
July 17, 2026, 09:40 am—I just finished my morning walk. Usually on Fridays, I go for a walk in my Huntcliff neighborhood just outside Atlanta. Since I haven’t been for a walk in a while, I really needed to get my blood circulating again, clear my head, and recover from my minor surgery I had 2 days ago. As I got out of the car and walked down a cul-de-sac about 50 yards I came upon a lady walking a chocolate Labrador dog. She looked up at me, recognition immediately flickering in her eyes, and boldly declared to me in a subtle, quiet, but unmistakable eastern European accent these 5 simple words. . . “Thank You for being here.”

As I passed by this lady it took me about a minute to realize that she knew me. I mean really KNEW me in a profound way. Her prescient words made me feel that my Life mattered. My existence mattered. My writings of 43 Years (1983-2026) on every aspect of History, Philosophy, Law, Politics, Economics, Sociology, Science, Medicine, Psychology, Musicology, Aesthetics, Globalism… LIFE mattered. *N.B.: See, Ellis Washington, Birth of a Conservative Intellectual, Part I, RenewAmerica.com (Jan. 1983), Part II, (Feb. 1983).
And then I remembered that I met this lady from distance about 4-5 months ago when that same Labrador dog ran out of her front door as I was walking by barking at me, but not in a threatening manner and she called the dog back in. Afterwards, the lady and I had a short conversation, and I complimented her on the beautiful renovations of her home and welcomed her into the Huntcliff neighborhood. Then I remembered about 3 weeks ago meeting her husband [Jim] who introduced himself to me in front of his home near where his wife and I are standing now.

I was so moved by Jim’s kindness and solicitude in speaking about his home renovations including the special office above the garage he had lovingly built for his wife to work in, that I wrote an extended group email to about 100 Huntcliff neighbors and copied this email to about 50-60 of my colleagues and administrators in the Academy sharing a “2026 Selected Summer Reading List” of my essays on the Classics especially compiled for the Children and Students of Huntcliff to read to keep their minds sharp and strong during their summer break. If anyone here on Facebook would like to read this group email I sent to my neighbors referenced above, I’ll put it in my upcoming essay in Honour of Librarians.

Open Letter (Group Email) to 50 Huntcliff Neighbors and 100 Professor and Administrators of the Academy (July 9, 2026)
Dear Jim & Huntcliff Neighbors:
It was really nice to meet you yesterday morning on my walk on your street. Thanks for introducing yourself to me. Your renovated home looks FANTASTIC! My wife and I have watched the developments of your home renovations for a long time with great interest and love the finished results you have achieved.
Tell your wife I saw her from a distance about 3-4 months ago while walking by your home at the same time your chocolate brown Labrador (?) dog came running out of the house towards me and she called for him to come back. I wasn’t afraid, the dog did his job and after confirming I wasn’t a threat came back to the front door. I thought the entire incident was funny.

Selected Summer Reading List for Children (Ages 8-High School), College Students, Adults & Seniors:
1. Ellis Washington, An Essay & Poem on Chief Judge Richard A. Posner—Part III (Dec. 31, 2024). (Has an interesting poem and analysis on the children’s classic – “The King Has No Clothes.”)
*
2. Ellis Washington, An Essay & Poem on Chief Judge Richard A. Posner—Part VII (Feb. 23, 2025)(This opus has an extended analysis of Edgar Allen Poe’s Classic Poem, The Raven [1844]).
(Search “Archives” Section to read all of the essays & poems from my 8-Part series on my antagonist, Chief Judge Richard A. Posner, 7th Circuit Court of Appeals [retired Sept. 2017].
Professor Richard A. Posner was also a Senior Lecture at the University of Chicago Law School (1968-2022) and has the distinction of being the most cited legal scholar by the Supreme Court and the most cited scholar in law journals and law reviews in history, yet I was the only scholar in the WORLD to expose Judge Posner’s perverted Weltanschauung (Nazi Worldview) and his pernicious legal philosophy and misguided jurisprudence that insisted on a militant separation of Legality over Morality. I irrefutably proved this in my writings for over a 30-year period of time! (1992-2026).

Note that this Progressive Worldview shared by the overwhelming majority of law scholars today is inextricably tied to Globalism and to the Democrat Socialist Party members of the #CulturalMarxist Academy. This Academic treachery is not by accident, but part of a long-standing Deep State Conspiracy to pervert, deconstruct and
destroy the singular foundations of Western Civilization as well as American Culture and Society = Christianity. #FalseFlag
*N.B.: Also see, Gleichshaltung = ‘Synchronization’, ‘Coordination’ or literally forcing into line, “was the process of Nazification by which Adolf Hitler—leader of the Nazi Party in Germany—established a system of totalitarian control and coordination over all aspects of German society “from the economy and trade associations to the media, culture and education“. This is why American Education = Miseducation, Misinformation, Disinformation and Deep State controlled Propaganda (aka Liberal Fascism, Cultural Marxism, Progressivism, Socialism, Wokism). America’s children and students thus must seek “Veritas” (Truth) above all else.

In my essay cited at the beginning of this note I parenthetically added Voltaire in the titled because although his philosophy was multi-dimensional he was indeed a major contributor to the School of Empiricism. See AI Overview.
Yes, Voltaire was a key champion of empiricism. While not a systematic academic philosopher, he popularized the empirical ideas of John Locke and the physics of Isaac Newton in France, arguing that true knowledge comes from sensory experience and observation rather than abstract, a priori reasoning.

Therefore, it did not influence “ancient” European writers. Instead, it profoundly shaped Enlightenment, Romantic, and Victorian authors, including Voltaire, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Edgar Allan Poe, and Robert Louis Stevenson.” Music by Rimsky-Korsakov: Scheherazade, conducted by Alain Altinoglu and the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra. In Memory of my Mother—JOAN COWSER FOLSON (1934-2014)—Facebook Post 7 Years after you Departed Us on Palm Sunday
“A house built with memory is stronger than a house built with walls.”
— Anonymous Sicilian Proverb
I Remember my Mother — JOAN GREEN FOLSON (1934-2014). Thinking about you and really missing you on your birthday today—September 1, 2021… Much Gratitude for all the Support & LOVE you gave not only to your 3 children, but to everyone that came into your resplendent Life.
If anyone wants to learn more about my dearly departed mother, I’ve included a short excerpt from a memorial essay I recently wrote about her @ https://www.elliswashingtonreport.com/…/memorial-essay…/
[Essay excerpt]–>”Secondly, beginning in 1964 when I was age 3, my mother systematically taught us the importance of wisdom and knowledge found in books and reading to me practically every night before bedtime and teaching me my alphabet and how to read, by taking me, my brother (Mario), and sister (Sonya [now Sanaa NiaJoy]) to the public library virtually every Saturday morning during the summer months for about 7 years until I was old enough to take my brother and sister by myself while she was studying and researching for college. I mentioned those memorable summers spending the day at the Charles Irish Walker Library Branch on 3591 Montclair St. & Mack Ave. in the East Village neighborhood on Detroit’s eastside where at ages 3-8 I literally learned to read during the impending social and existential chaos of the infamous 1967 Detroit Riot which was earlier chronicled in an essay I wrote in 2013.”
After visiting that library a few times with my mother, I remember certain librarians – kind, solicitous White ladies some having big ‘beehive’ hairdos of strange colors like pink and blue, other times it would be blonde, brunette or red, would leave a small stack of books for me to read each Saturday morning. Mostly I remember books by Dr. Seuss, but later I remember finding books on other advanced subjects as my reading and comprehension abilities expanded literally by the week.

As a little child age 5-6 I had just finished kindergarten at Lillibridge Elementary School (on Lillibridge and Kercheval Rd.), really raised my spirits as a child growing up in the ghetto without a steady father-figure in my life. Growing up in the “hood” never really leaves you. It traumatizes you even to adulthood because when you lived in the hood you never got a day off from being tormented and traumatized by the ghetto. Those existential experiences had its ups and downs that still haunt me to this day. Nevertheless, God knows our pain and have made remedies throughout Life to protect and maintain our Souls. One way God did that to me directly through the solicitude of the Librarians of that Charles Irish Walker Branch @3591 Montclair St. at Mack Ave. in the East Village neighborhood of Detroit was those kind librarian ladies would have a small stack of books for me to read every Saturday morning (like in that picture above) that I would be there at the corner of the Head Librarian’s desk (with the beehive hairdo) as I arrived there with my mother, my little brother (Mario) and my sister germinating inside my mother’s womb as she worked 2 jobs and studied on the weekends to finish her college at Wayne State University to finish her degree in Business Education in 1965/66. She would not finish that degree until 1981. She told me that she couldn’t let her son get his degree before she did. I got my bachelor’s degree from DePauw University in 1983, so my mother beat me by 2 Years!

I Almost Flunked Kindergarten as the Smartest Kindergarten Student at Lillibridge Elementary School (Detroit, MI)(circa 1965-66)
A narrative of the many paradoxes in life occurred with me when I was a child of age 4. For example, I always loved school and as a little child I secretly wished that I could live there. Why? One reason was school even in the ghetto was a very clean, big building with lots of windows letting the sunshine in where as a child one could think big, dream big and be BIG. Another reason was school had a lot of books and I always loved exercising my vast imagination through reading, by imagining I was another place, any place but inside the ghetto of Detroit.
*
Ironically, I really didn’t learn how to read at school. I learned the fundamentals from my mother at home reading books to her before I went to bed at night since about age 3 or listening to her read me books and then trying to learn to read on my own after learning my alphabet and the reading fundamentals. In retrospect, I’m glad that my formal education was supplemented at the earliest ages by being homeschooled by my mother, Joan, who was then working as a “Paraprofessional” or Student Teacher studying to become a certified public-school teacher at my same elementary school.
Kindergarten, the first grade before the “first grade” is usually a fun time for little children for it gives them their introduction to school with the “big kids”. It is here where you first learn to do everything that makes a young child become a competent, responsible human being like—coloring, learning your shapes, numbers and of course reading and writing your letters. Because I was homeschooled by my mother literally from the womb I was the smartest child in Kindergarten, but I soon learned a horrible truth that some people even adults can have hatred in their hearts for no reason other than jealously… yes, even your own beloved Kindergarten teacher.
My Kindergarten teacher was a seemingly kind old lady named “Ms. Frau” (ironically ‘frau’ is the German word for lady), nevertheless when it was time to graduate I learned from my mother (who as I mentioned above worked at this same school as a teacher’s assistant) that Ms. Frau intended to flunk me. Not because I hadn’t completed the work. All my grades (except citizenship or behavior) were exemplary, yet she was firm in teaching me a lesson and making me repeat Kindergarten until I learned to follow HER rules. Fortunately, I learned another lesson that of “protection”.
Since my mother worked in my school as a junior teacher she immediately when to Principal Richard _____ (sorry I forgot his last name, but the teachers behind his back all called him “King Richard” because he had an imperious, royal bearing like a king). When Principal Richard heard about Ms. Frau wanting to flunk me for having behavioral problems he was incensed. He had remembered Ms. Frau sending me to the Principal’s office on several occasions allegedly for “being bad”. Principal Richard hadn’t sad anything, but I do remember him giving me some advanced work which ironically had the opposite impression on me. I would purposely act up in Ms. Frau’s class so that I could get some “real work”. In fact, I was in the principal’s office during kindergarten that I had my own desk!
*

*N.B.: Like Father, Like Son—My son Stone would have a similar story in grades 1-3. He visited the Principal’s office (Principal Satut @Maire Elementary School, Village of Grosse Pointe, Mich.) so much so that Stone had his own desk and chair inside an anteroom off of the Principal’s office! (All I had was a counter next to the secretary’s desk). During recess Stone’s friends would come over to “his office” with a sad heart and longing looks on their faces because he wasn’t outside playing with them. Eventually we got Stone back on the right track by fourth grade and since that time he’s had little problems obeying authorities at school. . . just like his dear old dad.
*
Years later I learned from that meeting with Principal Richard, Ms. Frau and my mother he asked her –“Why do you think Ellis had time to misbehave in school?” Her reply sealed her fate and sent her to an early retirement when she boldly and foolishly stated—“Because Ellis always finished all of the work I gave him for the day before all the other students completed their work and so he had a lot of free time that he filled doing silly things [that a normal 5-year-old would do].” Principal Richard retorted, “Ms. Frau don’t you think it would have been prudent for you to give Ellis some additional or even advanced first grade work so that he would not be idle or get into trouble for violating your rules to ‘be quite’? Remember, children are not robots that you can program to obey. He is only a little child and if we don’t teach the children, then how can they learn?”

I heard from my mother that at this point in the meeting that Ms. Frau sat there nervous, silent, pathetic really with the realization that she foolishly allowed her low key racism, poor teaching skills, and lack of foresight to blind her to utilize better and effective pedagogical teaching methods – to intellectually stimulate her smarter more precocious students like me so as to keep them occupied and engaged with additional more challenging work – even first grade work, rather than punishing this innocent student with the shame and stigma of ‘flunking Kindergarten’ for nothing! Principal Richard was incensed and for her punishment for abusing her teaching mandate and trying to break the spirit of an innocent 5-year-old Kindergarten student made that school year (1965-66) was her last school year at Lillibridge Elementary School (or any other school for that matter) and Principal Richard sent Ms. Frau into an early retirement.

My first grade teacher, ‘Mrs. Sour’ (who ironically was sweet as pie) took me under her wing and fostered my precocious nature so much so that at the end of first grade they wanted to double promote me to the third grade, but my mother for some reason declined even though ironically when she was my same age she was double promoted to the third grade!
Later, as I alluded to above, I learned to improve my reading skills by regularly going to the local library about 4-5 blocks from our home at 2655 Montclair St, Detroit, MI 48235 every Saturday morning. The library branch was called the Charles Irish Walker Public Library Branch on 3591 Montclair St. at Mack Ave. in the East Village neighborhood of east Detroit, Mich.

*N.B.: Charles Irish Walker Branch of the Detroit Public Library – 3591 Montclair St. at Mack Ave., Detroit, Mich. Where from ages 4-8 I first learned to Read, to Think deeply, critically and most importantly to dream of another Life outside the Slave institutions of the Public Schools and the Ghetto society I was confined to during my early life.
In an 8-part essay series I did a few years ago on my intellectual mentor and philosophical antagonist, Chief Judge Richard A. Posner, of the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, in Essay #3 I had this short passage that ties into those early years in the late 1960s when I went to that neighborhood library and learned the value of gaining a strong, independent mind through the struggle of reading the written word. Here’s what I wrote in my Essay No. 3: How Judge Richard A. Posner Betrayed America (Dec. 31, 2024) — which cites books and poems that those anonymous, wonderful librarians with the beehive hairdos lovingly gave to me every Saturday morning for 4 YEARS! … seeds they planted in my mind, my heart and in my Soul that have sprouted into prolific and profound ideas on virtually every discipline of knowledge in the Academy—

I was also inspired by Several classic children’s books by Dr. Seuss—Green Eggs and Ham; The Cat in the Hat; One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish; How the Grinch Stole Christmas). Thanks to my mother and those wonderful anonymous librarians I believe I read every Dr. Seuss book published at that time.

I read these books at ages 4-8-years-old (1965-68) when my mother took me to the Charles Irish Walker Branch Library on 3591 Montclair at Mack Ave. at Montclair in the East Village Neighborhood on the lower eastside of Detroit, Mich. just before the Detroit Riots broke out in late July 1967, which in a paradoxical sense stole the innocence of my childhood forevermore. We lived about 4-5 blocks away at: 2655 Montclair.

*N.B.: Lillibridge Elementary School (Detroit, MI) at Lillibridge St. and Kercheval Ave. had an Upper School (left) which was an old school building (built circa 1906) containing grades 4-6 and the Lower School (right) “new building” containing Kindergarten – 3rd grades (built circa 1961-62). Sadly both buildings have been torn down for new development. Part of Ms. Mirandi and Ms. Vaught’s classroom or “living room” included a sofa, some winged back chairs, a Persian rug, side tables with lamps, and a large wooden bookcase. Inside that bookcase contained many Literary Classics including Dante’s Divine Comedy Trilogy – Hell – Purgatory – Paradise —

*N.B.: This magisterial book pictured above eventually led to my Christian conversion 6 years later in 1976. And this opus is what I remember reading and studying during my free time in Ms. Mirandi’s class at Lillibridge Elementary School, however being 1970 when I was in the 5th grade, the edition I read back then was obviously much older. Nevertheless, the cover art by Gustave Dore and English translation by that legendary English poet – Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, remained the same. By serendipity, I rediscovered this book after all those years and immediately purchased it at Border’s Bookstore in the City of Grosse Pointe in 2009 just before they went into bankruptcy.

Home design – To this day I have that exact pattern for my study at our first home we purchased in 1995 (and every home we’ve lived in since) and I was so inspired by my early education reading the literary classics that to date I have written about 100+ detailed and unique essays on all 54 vols. of the Literary Classics called – Britannica Great Books of the Western World (Mortimer J. Adler, Assoc. Ed., 1952) based on Ms. Mirandi and Ms. Vaught’s teachings and educational philosophy that promoted critical thinking and learning the curriculum through reading and writing on the literary classics. Epilogue I—Courage, Sacrifice, Honour, Discipline, Veritas (Truth)—The Reasons Why I taught myself a Classical Education and gave it to my Son, Stone Allen Washington

@CLT_Exam · May 31, 2026
One reason classical education produces more mature young people is because it introduces them to greatness early. Students spend years around saints, philosophers, statesmen, poets, generals, and missionaries. They grow up reading about courage, sacrifice, honor, discipline, truth.
Modern education tries to protect students from greatness because greatness creates objective standards. But young people desperately want standards. They want something higher than themselves to admire and live up to.

Epilogue II—In Honour of Librarians, Books, Knowledge and the Ability to THINK
I remember my little legs climbing the big stairs of the Charles Irish Walker Branch Public Library in Detroit (circa 1964-68) with my mother (Joan Cowser Green), my little brother (Mario, d. 1988) and my little sister (Sonya) who my mother was then pregnant with (1965-66). I remember the very kind librarians who examined me, saw that I was a precocious child and helped my mother to have some quite time while she studied her college courses, gave me books to read. That’s how I learned to read; not at school, but at the library. And for this epiphany experiences I am forever grateful for these anonymous librarian women many having beehive hairdos taught be how to THINK!
Long before chain bookstores were a thing, there were the public libraries that existed since antiquity. In fact, history demonstrates time and time again that whenever one nation not only wanted to conquer another nation but to erase its very existence from history the best way to do that was to burn down all of its libraries. By doing this not only do you murder their culture and society now, more importantly you murder their culture and society for future generations.
For a people, a nation without knowledge of it’s history is a people and a nation dwelling in perpetual Slavery.
This is why Black slavery by Whites, Muslims and Arab slave traders that stole us from Africa and brought us to America was so comprehensive and the democidal effects of which even to this day are still with U.S.

Nevertheless, one way to overcome the negative effects of slavery and racial discrimination is by strengthening your mind through reading the written word. It is very powerful because a child can take personal possession and ownership over one’s education apart even from the sole responsibility of the public schools or private schools. We call this “autodidactic education” = self-education. Why is Self-Education important? Because Public Schools or Private Schools or Charter Schools are in one part or another controlled and dictated by the STATE = the Government. These schools are part of the government “Institutions” which throughout history can be perverted and compromised. And we know throughout history that the State or Government can often be the #1 Enemy of We the People. The Founding Fathers and the Constitutional Framers of America understood this which is why our 2nd President John Adams stated these profound words on what kind of people could only be governed by our then new U.S. Constitution (ratified Sept. 1787)—
Finally dear children, students of all grades, learn all you can from school but understand that your most important education comes from what you learn on your own (autodidactic learning). These infinite number of epiphany experiences will shape your hearts and minds molding them into a strong edifice or tower that no false system of Big Lies propagated by Mankind will ever be able to knock down or infiltrate. Why? Because it’s built on VERITAS = Truth.
