washington120804In the Old Testament, there were three times good King Jehoshaphat listened to military advice from the prophets on whether or not to go to war with his surrounding enemies, and three times he wasn’t satisfied with the words he was hearing as being authentically from the Lord (I Kings 22:7; 2 Kings 3:11; 2 Chronicles 18:6). Therefore, what made King Jehoshaphat “good” was that he had the fortitude and spiritual discernment to reject the words of the false prophets and ask for a real prophet so as to follow the will of God and not lead himself and his people into catastrophe.

King Jehoshaphat asked: “Is there not here a prophet of the LORD?” Unlike today’s cowardly politicians, this leader not only had a zeal for the truth, but the courage to follow the truth regardless of whom he offended.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. These passages below regarding battle advice and military tactics thousands of years ago are no different than today’s American presidents and their legions of advisers; do they provide truth (from God) or do they simply give our leaders what they want to hear – the consequences and the Constitution be damned?!

President Obama has many advisers who offer their “professional advice” on whether to do this, that or the other; however, when you are a reactionary Democratic socialist and all of your advisers are reflexive Democratic socialists, then what type of domestic, international, economic, or constitutional advice do you think President Obama will receive (or allow) before his ears? That’s right – only Marxist socialism and liberal fascism. That’s why America is in such appalling circumstances.

As in modern times, with Obama going to war over Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and now, ironically, Syria, so in ancient times King Jehoshaphat had a big dilemma with his sworn enemy to Israel’s north – Syria. Here is the passage from 1 Kings 22:1-8:

“And they continued three years without war between Syria and Israel. And it came to pass in the third year, that Jehoshaphat the king of Judah came down to the king of Israel. …

“And he said unto Jehoshaphat, Wilt thou go with me to battle to Ramothgilead? And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, I am as thou art, my people as thy people, my horses as thy horses.

“And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, Enquire, I pray thee, at the word of the Lord today.
